Serving Utica, NY

Now that the time has come to upgrade to your next luxury sedan, your attention is understandably tuned to the BMW line. At BMW of Utica, the 3 Series and the 5 Series are often compared against each other by our customers. Both of these popular models have been on the road for several decades and have what it takes to deliver an all-around amazing driving experience. However, their unique capabilities and features come together to give each model its individuality. What should you know about these models before you make a purchase?

Performance

The 3 Series for 2021 is offered with one gas engine, one M Performance engine, and one hybrid engine. You can choose between having xDrive and other mechanical features in your sedan for all of these engines. The 5 Series, on the other hand, has two gas engines as well as an M Performance powertrain and a hybrid powertrain. Most of these engines are also available with xDrive and other mechanical features that are available for the 3 Series.

Appearance

The BMW 3 Series has a sporty design, while the 5 Series has a more elegant feel from end to end. However, the design differences between these models are minimal. For example, the 3 Series has a shorter nose that is modestly steeper. The 3 Series also has scalloped LED headlights that have rounded LED light bars. The headlights in the 5 Series also have dual elements, but the LED light bars have sharp corners. Also, the sides of the 3 Series have beautiful angles through the contouring. The 5 Series has parallel, straight accent lines with a power-minded air vent near the front wheel’s fender.

Features

Common features between these two models are Connected Drive services, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a HiFi sound system, SiriusXM, dynamic cruise control, paddle shifters on the steering wheel, Live Cockpit, and many other features. The 5 Series also comes with enhanced USB ports, Bluetooth and smartphone integration, two additional speakers, larger display screens for the infotainment system, the driver’s gauges, a tri-zone auto climate management system, and other items.
